You Set Me Free is a joyous, upbeat country-style song that examines and celebrates life after a relationship – in this case, life after being dumped (twice), reconsidered, and dumped again – I know, fool me three times and I’m the fool. The song incorporates banjo, bass, violin, steel guitar, and drums in an up-tempo hoedown (ish) style. I am using a baritone voices for the tenor part, as a tenor voice blends into alto. The original “You Set Me Free” also has a mixed-meter section. It started in 7/8 weaving back and forth with 4/4 and was reintroduced again as a bridge. I will post an extended version with that portion shortly. I didn’t want to lead with a progressive-country piece. For now, please enjoy “You Set Me Free” and realize that we are always free! We bind ourselves to other people or situations and then, forgetting we have done so, feel trapped by our own choices. Change is always just a choice away. Sometimes we make that choice and other times, that choice is made for us. Remember the serenity prayer: God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. Let’s go now . . .
Walk This Path is an unapologetic love song, set to a Caribbean theme with way too much drumming (Sorry – Oops, NOT Sorry). This is the first song I have written with a substantial introduction (1:10) so I found a 3-D color image generator to fill in before the lyrics arrive. Please be patient, the lyrics are coming, the lyrics are coming . . . Walk This Path examines what is required for the long term, such that we fall in love for all eternity – at least as “eternity” applies to the human condition. It is no mistake that this song appears in two playlists – Songs of Spirit and Songs of Desire. This is a song about the moment you find your soulmate – again. exploring the idea of twin souls sharing lifetimes and experiences together. [When you find someone to love and they really love you, you don’t let a little thing like death come in the way of eternal happiness.] The human experience is filled with contradictions and suffering, but also great joy and bliss if one knows how and where to find it. I honor all of those who have found the love of their lives, those who are still seeking, and those who think they have given up. Seeking, appreciating, and sharing love in any of its multiplicitous forms is one of the sweetest expressions of the human condition. It is my prayer that you find your heart’s desire

Time To Go examines the seasons of love and the importance of love in our lives. The song further alludes to love being a choice and this can be extrapolated to relationships, as well. “We cannot plot the course of love, we only steer . . .” is an essential understanding to successfully navigate the relationships we have. Knowing when it is “time to go” is necessary for our mental and spiritual well-being.
