Baran Galocy – OtherWhys Music Palm Desert, California
Baran Galocy is a lifelong musician, inventor, and educator whose creative journey bridges rhythm, technology, and heartfelt storytelling. A native of South Florida, Baran began playing drums and percussion during his school years and went on to serve four years as a percussionist with the First Army Band at Fort Meade, Maryland. After his military service, he earned associate degrees in Percussion Performance and Pre-Engineering.
In 1990, Baran relocated to Redding, California, where he met his ex-wife, Tienne, and together they formed the band Asylum, performing original music they composed. Although now living in different states they still email, sharing their current lives and history. Professionally, Baran worked as an electrician and later specialized in photovoltaic systems, eventually teaching solar technology at the college level.
After retiring during the COVID-19 pandemic, Baran continued his lifelong pursuit of innovation, authoring patents and a short, concise book on working with artificial intelligence. Discovering how modern AI tools could give voice to his compositions reignited his passion for songwriting and performance. Although not a vocalist himself, Baran now composes, arranges, and produces complete works using AI-based vocal performance technology. He looks forward to rendering some of his music in a studio, as the opportunity presents itself.
Under the creative banner OtherWhys Music, Baran continues to explore the intersection of human emotion and technological expression — crafting music that uplifts, inspires, and reflects the many paths of a life, well, lived in rhythm . . . however syncopated.
